About the Maggie's Farm Folks

Maggie Alexander and Matthew J. Redmond - December 19, 1998

My husband, Matthew, and I are chasing a dream...a dream of living an agricultural lifestyle, close to our animals and the earth, in a rural area with country values.  We raise Bluefaced Leicester sheep, a rare British breed just getting started in the USA, colored angora goats, German Angora rabbits and several breeds of ornamental chickens.   Matt is a master carpenter and I am a high school special education teacher at an alternative high school.  We found each other later in life and vowed to make every minute together count...that is why we gave up the rat race in the suburbs and headed to Central New York.  We share our living space with several cats and dogs who also have their own jobs on the farm.

Maggie's Farm is a state of mind, where material things take a back seat to the environment, and a good view of the sky and landscape, and enough sun and rain to grow hay matter more than clothes and appliances.    A good truck that can haul feed, hay and livestock is more important than an SUV, and the purchase of a reliable tractor looms large over living room furniture.   Our farm products are handmade, one at a time, with care and pride.  When you buy our products you are supporting a lifestyle that may be vanishing, but a few hardy souls like us are hanging on tight!

Your purchase of Maggie's Farm products helps support a vanishing entity...the small family farm in America...thank you.
